Your brand, clean on the sidewalk

We don’t paint anything. We lay a stencil on the sidewalk and clean it with pressurized water. When we lift it, your message shows in the original color of the pavement, cut out from the dirt around it.

It goes by many names and none is official: clean graffiti, reverse graffiti, reverse stencil, waterjet stencil, water graffiti, eco graffiti or selective cleaning advertising. It’s the same technique.

It works best on sidewalks with built-up dirt and heavy foot traffic, where the contrast between clean and dirty shows the most.

FAQ — Reverse graffiti
What is reverse graffiti?
An outdoor advertising technique that uses no paint: a stencil is laid on a dirty sidewalk and cleaned with pressurized water. The message is drawn by the contrast between the clean and dirty areas.
Are clean graffiti, reverse graffiti, reverse stencil and water graffiti the same?
Yes. They are different names for the same technique. It is also known as waterjet stencil, eco graffiti, clean advertising or selective cleaning. It is not the same as invisible graffiti, which uses a water-repellent coating that only shows when it rains.
How long does it last?
Around 10 days. It mostly depends on rain and foot traffic, which even out the sidewalk until the contrast fades.
Does it use paint?
No. The surface is only cleaned with pressurized water through the stencil.
Where does it work best?
On sidewalks with built-up dirt and heavy foot traffic. On new or very clean pavement there is no contrast and the message can’t be read.
Can it be combined with other formats?
Yes. We can add it to stencils, posters or floor stickers. If you need the piece to last longer, floor stickers last 12 months.
